you might even do a poll on who was the biggest bastard to women in the ancient world.
i'm putting in a vote for gilgamesh, who demanded that he shag every woman in the kingdom on their wedding night.
what's your nomination?

Well, take your pick! What is considered mysogynistic by today's standards was normal in ancient times. It was never unusual for males to take multiple wives and mistresses (not to mention a few young boys as well), and cast them aside when the notion struck them.
Julius Caesar was a pretty famous womanizer. He had a wife, Calpurnia (wife #3), when he took up with Cleopatra, and was also cozy with Brutus' mother Servilia. Women were simply expected to turn the other cheek when it came to new marriages, liasions, and children being born from them. And this did not make ancient men bastards (at least back then), they were simply fulfilling their societal roles.

i don't know about that. caesar wasn't exactly popular for his womanising - i read that he deliberately tried to shag every senator's wife just to annoy his peers. no wonder he got stabbed. and ol' brutus was none to pleased that he was shagging his mum.
servilia herself was no shrinking violet, however...
