October 23, 42 B.C. - During the Second Battle of Philippi of the Roman Republican Civil Wars, Mark Antony and Octavian soundly defeat Brutus, who commits suicide on this date.

October 24, A.D. 69 - During the Second Battle of Bedriacum, forces loyal to Vespasian, led by Antonius Primus of the Danube armies, defeat the army of Roman Emperor Vitellius.

October 24, A.D. 51 - Future Roman Emperor Domitian is born on this date. Not thought of as a very wise Emperor or good military commander, he was murdered by his Praetorian Guard in A.D. 96.
