Notable events in Ancient history for the week of May 7 - 13

May 9, 11, 13 - The Roman Feast of the Lemures, or the Lemuralia (the Restless Dead) took place. During this feast Romans performed rituals in order to exorcise the restless or mean-spirited ghosts of the dead out of their homes. This was done with offerings of black beans. The legend of the Lemuralia goes that Romulus began it in order to placate the restless spirit of his brother Remus, whom he had killed.

Otherwise, a rather quiet week in Ancient History!
