Definition of the glossary term Eros

Eros was the Greek god of love, fertility, and sexual desire. He is generally thought of as the son of Aphrodite and Ares, though earlier writings refer to him as protaganus or the "first born", and being responsible for the union of Uranus and Gaia, who subsequently bore the main Greek gods.

Eros is commonly shown as a chubby young nude child with wings (a cherub), who uses a bow and arrow. He was quite mischievous, and targeted his arrows in order to stir feelings of love and desire (he laso used a set of arrows that caused indifference in the heart of whomever he targeted).

Roman name: Cupid
