Definition of the glossary term Aphrodite
Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, lust, and sex. She was the epitome of beauty and sexual desire. She was the daughter of Zeus, and the wife of Hephaestus. Aphrodite was born as a result of the castration of Uranus, a titan. His genitals were severed by his son Cronus, and tossed into the sea. A foam formed along the water from which Aphrodite then arose. Roman name: Venus
