Definition of the glossary term Iron Age

The Iron Age is a period of development of technology and human history that is characterized by the widespread use of tools, weapons, and other implements made from iron. It is the latest period deemed by archaeologists as the three-age system: Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age. The Iron Age occurred from approximately 1200 B.C. - 500 B.C. (this date varies from region to region).
