Definition of the gloassary term in situ
The term in situ is a common term of archaeology, where an artifact or other important piece has been located at its point of original deposition. This is a critical factor in determining the context of an artifact or monument, and it helps archaeologists to interpret an object's use, and to further interpret the culture or civilization that put it there.
