Definition of the glossary term Forum

A Forum was a public space located in the center of a Roman city or town. Forums included public spaces for oration, commerce, processions, religious worship, and other types of public and administrative activity.

In the city of Rome, there were several fora, including the Forum of Trajan, which included several shops, and the Forum Romanum, or the Imperial Forum, which included several temples dedicated to the principal Roman gods.
