Definition of the glossary term centaur

In Greek mythology, a centaur is a creature that is half-man, half-horse. The creature has the upper body, head, and arms of a man, and the lower body and legs of a powerful horse. They were commonly represented in early Greek vase painting, often depicted engaged in battle.
